Story
By restoring and caring for suitable habitat we have already played a key role in giving the rare and threatened hazel dormouse a great chance of survival here in Nottinghamshire. Our ancient woodland sites have been selected as part of a nation-wide re-introduction programme led by the People's Trust for Endangered Species (PTES) and Natural England because they have just the right habitat that dormice need to survive.
Now that these endearing creatures have a foothold in the county, we are working with partners and local landowners to give them every chance not just to survive, but to thrive.
By improving the management of our woodlands and restoring and re-planting hedgerows across the North Nottinghamshire landscape we hope to ensure that these important but fragmented dormice populations can disperse and come into contact.
We need funding support to help us restore hederow habitat, provide advice to landowners and to conduct surveying and monitoring in the project area
