Story
We're excited to announce the 2017 Tackle Pet Hunger campaign will be held October 29-November 11th. Over the past four years, our annual pet food drive has raised over 12,000 pounds of cat and dog food for pets in need in central Ohio. This year, our goal is to raise 6,000 pounds of food to benefit organizations working to keep pets in their homes and out of our already overcrowded shelters—our most ambitious goal yet!
Tackle Pet Hunger is unique in that we bring together a wide variety of food collection sites, volunteers, and organizations to make a positive difference for animals. We have 25 food collection sites confirmed for this year’s campaign, and expect more to sign on in the next month. In addition to the collection sites in the community, we will hold a drive-up, drop-off day the morning of Saturday, November 11 at Charity Newsies in Clintonville. Last year was our first year to include online ordering through Amazon and we plan to continue that convenient option this year as well.
All of the food that is donated benefits the PetPromise Pet Food Pantry and Sedona Grace Foundation, two organizations that offer temporary pet food assistance to those in need. By supporting their efforts, we can keep pets with the people who love them and prevent them from becoming another shelter statistic.
You can be a part of Tackle Pet Hunger! This campaign is our largest initiative of the year. Please consider making a financial donation in support of the effort. We also encourage you to bring a donation of cat or dog food to one of the collection sites or Charity Newsies during the campaign timeframe. Visit www.TacklePetHunger.com for the complete list!
