Story
In response to the thousands of refugees arriving into the Greek Islands – REACT volunteers completed an assessment of urgent needs. Medical help & shelter were seen as the most pressing issues. REACT is now donating medical equipment to doctors operating in Moria registration camp as well as to long-term Greek volunteer groups providing emergency shelter to refugee women, children, the elderly and the disabled. Despite the winter, refugees are still fleeing conflict and making the journey across the sea to reach Europe. They travel in fragile rubber dinghies. Boats often sink causing children and adults to drown. These tragedies do not stop the refugees from putting themselves at the mercy of smugglers who demand hefty prices and often hand out'fake" life jackets. REACT is now assisting partners in Lesvos during the winter and our campaign is to raise much needed funds to support medics and shelters in their vital and precious work with those fleeing conflict.
