Story

The south aisle pews were collapsing and becoming dangerous and unserviceable because of the presence of woodworm, deathwatch beetle and dry rot. We therefore used this in a positive way by removing the pews in order to create a community space. We do not have a village hall and so the space created will be available for the church and for the community to use, making a suitable venue at the heart of the community.

We will be able to use the space for coffee mornings, lunch groups, community meetings and children's activities. The installation of the toilet and servery will of course make all these things possible.

About the charity

At St Andrew's, Horbling we seek to be a warm, friendly and inclusive church with a common purpose – praising God and serving His people. We are raising funds to set up a community space within the church, which will include an accessible toilet and a servery in order to support the whole community.
