Story
Ebenezer was orphaned at an early age, she has been part of the girl’s home in Coimbatore, South India since she was six years old. She is a shy and quiet girl but can always be found with a smile on her face. She has studied hard and became part of our Esther Project where she has continued her education.
She is now 21 years old and in her final year in of her master’s degree in social work, just a few weeks ago she was talking with the house parent about her passion to help children who were less fortunate than herself.
Ebi is part of the local church and sings in the worship team, one night last week she was returning to the Esther Home after attending a prayer meeting. While crossing the road she was hit by a car, pinning her leg against a concrete bollard, this car was then hit by a bus which crushed her leg completely. Ebi was rushed to hospital straight away, but due to the extensive damage to her leg the doctors were left with no alternative than to amputate her leg from the thigh down.
Such is Ebi's determination just a few days after the operation she has been walking down the hospital corridor with a walking frame, resting at the end with a smile on her face. She has been repeating the bible verse found in Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength."
What an amazing, inspirational young lady, she will need further operations and then months of rehabilitation, our project leaders are working closely with the hospital and doctors to ensure she gets the best care possible. In months to come she will need a prosthetic leg and the home where she lives will need alterations.
We can't begin to imagine the impact this will have on Ebenezer, what if this was your daughter, or your granddaughter, you would want the best for them and that's what we want for Ebi.
Our aim is to see her live a full and normal live, please help us to change her world.
