Story
Eden (named after the island) was in a bad way when found with a cracked shell and on x-ray, a foreign object in her gut.
Eden, a Hawksbill turtle, was brought in to MCSS Rescue and Rehabilitation Centre, Banyan Tree Resort, Seychelles on 31March 2016.
MCSS Staff and local vets went about fixing her shell. However, after a few days she started to deteriorate.
What started as a fun 'Guess the foreign object in the x-ray' became a serious question as Eden lost weight, the will to live and a fishing hook was identified in the foreign object.
There little there is of wildlife rescue and rehabilitation in the Seychelles is present in this rehab centre. Local vets deal with domestic animals and medication availability is limited.
Eden's life was on the brink for many days and recovery took longer due to the lack of expertise and right equipment and medication.
WVI's turtle vet supported MCSS staff support via messages and how-to videos but more training is needed.
This campaign can fix that.
