We did it – we trecked from 9.15 am on Saturday to 5.45 am on Sunday in rain, hail, sun and thunder, only resorting to the ipods at 3am in the dark and the rain.

I would just like to thank my girls for being such a great ‘never say die’ team, my wonderful brother for being there to support us and our inspiration on the day and always and all of you who have so kindly donated.   With your generosity of spirit we have raised over £118,000 that will hopefully lever more than match funding from the medical council. 

This in turn will allow Professor Shaw to employ more top graduates  onto his team to not only gain their PHDs but further their research into MND and find some relief and a possible cure for the future.

I hope I have managed to thank each and everyone of you but if for some reason  I couldn’t get your email I hope you read this and realise my sincere and deep appreciation for your contribution and the difference you have made.  We had never expected to raise this amount but it is testament to my brother who is an example to all in true bravery, grit and determination.

The Heaton Ellis Trust would like to thank everyone for their generosity. Through sponsorship this means that for every £1 raised a further £3 is awarded by the Motor Neurone Disease Association and the Medical Research Council. The trust runs with no administrative overheads so every £1 will result in £4 worth of research funding.”
