If you have made it as far as to read this - Thank You!

Michael and I were supposed to be running Paris Marathon last year, to raise money for The Lewis Foundation - a charity chosen by my mum Adrianna. We decided to use our health to help people who are without theirs. Mum was battling cancer at the time we entered, so naturally it had to be to raise money for a cancer charity. Day in day out those charities were there for my Mum where distance separated us and I was unable to be in the Midlands as much as I wanted to.

When I told mum I wanted to run a marathon, I asked her who she would like me to run for, and she said it has to be for The Lewis Foundation. This small Midlands based charity provide goodie bags for the patients on the chemotherapy wards to cheer them up. Mum described it as a hug on what was always such a tough day. And so it was with great pride that we started our training. 

What saddens me most is writing this post in the past tense. Since then, not only has our chosen marathon been cancelled three times due to Covid, but Mum lost her battle to cancer too. On 16th April last year, we lost her.

So it is with a determined heart and focused mindset that we have decided to run our own marathon for Mum anyway, as a massive f*ck you to Covid and Cancer, and we are going to run it on 8th May 2021!

I am so grateful to everyone who donated to my original fundraising page which raised over £1000; the page has unfortunately been closed and the proceeds already sent to The Lewis Foundation.

Here is a little more info on what The Lewis Foundation does: 

"At The Lewis Foundation we source, package and hand deliver gift packs for free to adult cancer patients in hospitals in the Midlands and the community weekly. These are items that patients might find difficult to buy themselves or simply cannot afford – and that brings people happiness and comfort at a difficult time. For many people in hospital and the community, our volunteers are their only regular visitors. We currently provide over 2500 gifts per month to 7 hospitals. People can pick a gift of their choice for free from our gift list."
