So, I’ve decided to challenge myself and my disability to
raise money for others with a Spinal Cord Injury.

Every eight hours, someone in the UK sustains a spinal cord
injury. There is no warning, no preventative medicine, and no time to prepare. A spinal cord injury can happen to anyone at any time.

I'm taking on the Aspire Channel Swim 2017, swimming the
distance of the Channel over 12 weeks to raise money for Aspire. Aspire
provides the essential equipment, advice, housing and grants that spinal cord injured people need to live their lives independently. This is a big challenge, but the more I raise, the more of a difference I'll make, so please be generous!

On the 13^th September 2014, i received what i was told was “A Life Changing Injury”. I broke my neck at C7 and damaged my spinal cord at C4 & C5. I fell in my garden, i woke up sometime later staring at
the sky and realised i had no sensations from the neck down, i was paralysed.

Not being told being told if you’ll ever walk or use your hands again was simply the scariest part of my life, all i was repeatedly told was, “you’ve got a life changing injury”.

Suddenly it dawned on me...  i had to try and take control of this life
changing injury.

I was determined to walk out of that hospital, and after laying flat in bed for six weeks, i slowly regained some sensations back in my arms, hands & legs, then the hard work of rehab started.

I walked out of that hospital 12 weeks after my injury. I’m
not and never will be 100% again, this has simply changed my life, both mentally and physically.

I'm now C4/C5 Incomplete....
