We support indigenous and forest people to protect their rainforest home.

Story

My family and I were lucky enough to visit Peruvian Amazon this summer. We met some amazing people, ate some incredible food and most importantly saw the most diverse and wonderful plants and animals the planet has to offer.  By letting nature do it's thing and supporting the local people you get a sustainable environment.

My choosen charity Rainforest Foundation UK supports local people in the protection of their land skilling them in law, finance, sustainable farming and technology so they can support themselves.  I'm suggesting we do this rather than raze it all to the ground.

Now, enough of the boring stuff, how I am going to suffer for you?  As you can see from the profile picture, I look amazing in Denim.  I've already run and cycled in Denim so the natural conclusion is to swim in it.  Despite Denim being the perfect material for swimming, I'm not actually sure it's possible to swim 2.5km in it ,in a lake, but the organisers have given me permission so it's too late now.

As an extra incentive, for every pound donated I will match it and donate it to a US charity that directly supports the Amazonian villages in Peru.  Limit of 750!

Thanks, Conrad.

PS If I don't get enough donations I'll send round more pictures of me in Denim.

About the charity

The Rainforest Foundation UK aims to protect tropical rainforests by working with those who know the forest best – indigenous peoples and traditional forest dwellers. By supporting them, we're taking a major step forward in the battle to combat climate change.
