Story
RUNNING....it's a bit like marmite, you either love it or hate it! You're either determined to be good or bad at it. For some it is a massive challenge in itself! So this seemed like the perfect opportunity to raise awareness for the amazing charity which is The Air Ambulance.
As some of you know, both being paramedics, we on occasions get to work alongside the amazing crews of the Air Ambulance, and have witnessed first hand just how valuable their expertise are when they are needed for the most critically injured of patients. With an average response time of around less than 6 minutes, every second counts in a patient's outcome (now that is less time than it takes me to have a shower!).
Did you know...
*The average cost of each rescue mission is around £1,400?
*It costs them over £1.7 million a year to keep the service flying?
*Last year they flew around 1,000 missions conveying patients to the best possible facility for treatment and saving lives,that possibly otherwise would have been lost?
*£15 buys them only 1 air mile...
These DO NOT receive any Government or National Lottery Funding and solely rely on donations and fundraising to fly!!!!
So please, please, please help us to raise a minimum of £500 between us for this amazing cause, and to keep us motivated through the suffering of shin splints, swollen ankles and aching muscles! Every pound really does help, with 77p going towards the helicopter, fuel, life saving equipment and medications and 23p goes towards the administration for the charity and planning for their future! All we can say is Adidas Silverstone Half Marathon 2014...bring it on!
We are also hosting our last fundraising event a quiz night, on Friday the 21st of February 2014 at Guilsborough Village Hall. Tickets are £7.50 per person which includes a Ploughman's Supper!
