    Story

I will be attempting 12 marathons in 12 months in 2021!

Last year I lost my loving Mum to cancer during the first lockdown followed by my Dads diagnosis that he is suffering from Alzheimers. I have found it very hard to accept both, however I now feel ready to take on this challenge `and raise awareness and funds for these 3 charities which are close to our family.

Murrayfield Injured Players Foundation - The MIPF does outstanding work in supporting current and former players throughout Scotland who have suffered varying degrees of injuries. I personally have received support through a long term injury along with my older brother Scott. The foundation is now helping provide support for Dad and has provided long time support for Eddie Renwick of Jed who suffered a catastrophic injury many years ago. http://www.mipf.org.uk/

Marie Curie - Marie Curie were outstanding at the end of Mums illness and provided amazing support and care to mum and us as a family. The contribution they make to peoples life's in the most difficult of times is amazing and one we are so grateful for. Boroughmuir the rugby club I have played for the past 7 seasons also has strong links to the charity and have done many events over the years so I look forward to teaming up with them again for this challenge. https://www.mariecurie.org.uk/

Alzheimer's Scotland - Alzheimer's Scotland is Scotlands national dementia charity and provide fantastic support to people living with dementia, fund vital research projects and provide support to families who are supporting their loved ones through this tough illness. Since reaching out to them about my challenge they have been nothing short of amazing and have pointed me in the direction of some great support networks for me and the family and I look forward to working with them through this challenge and beyond to support Dad as best we can. https://www.alzscot.org/

I have no doubt this will be an extremely tough challenge but one I am determined to achieve to help support these great charities!

Marathon 8 Tonight will see myself and my good mate Ryan Miller take on Blast Runnings Sunset Marathon. Something very different in terms or route and the time of the start. 7pm start down at Gypsy Brae Park and completing x6 7Km loops! The support has been incredible with so many people doing their own challenges in support of my own which really spurs me on for the remainder of the year! Marathon 8 let’s be having you!!

Since Marathon 7 we have received a large amount of donations towards our fundraising total. We are now closing in on £16,000 which is just so far beyond what we though was possible to achieve. Thanks to everyone who has donated so far and with 5 Marathons still to complete we are looking forward to the rest of the year and raising money and awareness for these 3 charities.
