My wife recently told me about a family she had met that so inspired me I felt compelled to take action.

Jack was born with an ultra rare genetic disease called Morquiosa. He relies on his wheelchair to get about, it is his legs effectively. Another implication of the disease is he is of very short stature standing at 125cm tall , this is his full adult height. For his own independence and quality of life Jack needs a special wheelchair. This enables him to go shopping, help himself around the home and go to the bar (he is 21).

Unfortunately, Jack was recently involved in a road traffic accident with his car and wheelchair being written off. Motability will replace his car but not his wheelchair. At the age of 21 it is nearly impossible to find funding through charities to buy a new one and the wheelchair required is not available through the NHS.

The total cost of a new wheelchair is over £17000. I would like to play my part by raising at least £1000. To do this my daughter has set me three challenges; go sober in October, go Vegan in November and grow a beard in December.

I know the request for donations feels never ending. So given I'm doing three challenges over three months all I'm asking for is a donation of £3 to transform a young man's life.
