    Story

    The Project

The project is to launch a community internet Radio Station specifically for the Lambourn Valley, which will be called '4 Legs Radio'. Initially '4 Legs Radio' will broadcast 1 day per week for approximately 6-8 months which will be every Friday between 9am and 4.30pm.

The remaining funds are needed to purchase a radio desk, microphones, music licence, marketing / promotional material and indemnity insurance plus to complete the build of a temporary radio studio, which is currently a private garage.

    The Objective

The objective is to offer programmes that serve the needs of the Lambourn Valley community with programmes currently not provided by other radio stations.

Items of local interest, news and importance will be covered together with sport and music. In addition '4 legs Radio' will be aiming to offer programmes that engage with some of the elderly and less mobile members of the community, and because we live in the Valley of the Racehorse there will be a slot that covers racing as well.

    Q & A regarding the Pilot

    Q. - How will it be determined if '4 Legs Radio' is a success or not?

    A. - People from the community will be asked to complete an On-Line survey asking what they did or didn't like about '4 Legs Radio' and whether or not they'd like it to continue. In addition face-face feedback sessions will be held with a number of the local activity groups.

Q - Is there an actual number of concurrent listeners that will determine whether '4 Legs Radio' station continues to broadcast beyond 6-8 months?

A - Reports can be produced to determine how many people listen to programmes both live and via on-line recordings. Ideally a total figure in the range of 30+ people will have listened at some point during a broadcasting day but this may go up or down over the weeks depending on the programme content / items. The decision whether or not to continue '4 Legs Radio' beyond the 6-8 months will be made from the results of the On-Line survey and face-face feedback sessions.

Q - If the decision is not to continue what will happen to the funds that have been donated?

A - All items purchased for the radio station will be sold. Proceeds from their sale and any remaining funds will be donated to a local charity.

    Vision Statement

By early 2019 extend broadcasting of '4 Legs Radio' to a minimum of 3 days a week and be the primary local radio station of choice for the Lambourn Valley community.

    Future Plans

Assuming the pilot is a success and broadcasting is extended, the plan is to cover operaional costs with revenue from local advertisers / sponsors

The aim is to offer children and young people the chance to have a voice by involving local schools and youth groups.

Formalise a Management Committee that ensures '4 Legs Radio' continues to serve the community, and focuses on continuous improvement from a programme content and professional perspective. In addition register 4 Legs Radio as a non-profit making Charitable Incorporated Organisation (CIO).
