To set up an Education and Learning Centre:

Midlands Psychology work with children with autism of all ages and from all across Staffordshire, offering mental health and support services.
Some of the children are not able to attend school for a variety of reasons.

For most, the aim is to support them whilst working towards reintegration. However, there are some children for whom this is not possible and their repeated experiences of failure have a major impact on them, increasing their anxieties and exacerbating mental health difficulties.

Out of school, they can become 'the forgotten children', whose contact with life outside the home can become extremely limited. For this group of children we are currently looking into possible alternative provisions for academic and social learning.

A voluntary group of dynamic parents aim to set up an Education and Learning Centre to offer:

• a safe place for children to meet
• learning and support
• information and advice
• activities, workshops
• social opportunities
• meeting point for visits
• resources (books, sensory equipment, toys etc)

Can you help support this unique initiative by:

• offering to share a skill with the families (e.g. computing, woodwork, art and craft).
