Through Facebook I have managed to stay in contact with so many people and friends from the past!! In August a school friend had a gorgeous beautiful baby boy called charlie 💗💗💗 it was lovely seeing updates of charlie and many other of my friends who had also giving birth to gorgeous babies. After a few weeks I noticed there hadn't been many updates of connie and her gorgeous one, I had noticed a family friend of connie's had posted an update with the news charlie had been taken in to hospital and a few weeks later had been diagnosed with mitochondrial depletion syndrome.
Mitochondrial disease is an illness that can be present at birth or develop later in life. It causes debilitating physical, developmental, and cognitive disabilities It is estimated that 1 in 4,000 people has Mito. At present there is not a cure but various treatments for similar syndromes may help.
I have been following charlie story, waiting antiously like many others to hear of any updates.
Charlie was admitted to GOSH, and for the past 4 and half months Charlie has been fighting for his life. Connie and family have been on a constant battle with the Doctors at GOSH to help keep their little boy alive, because Mito is known to be fatal with infants the Doctors are refusing to treat Charlie and help him.
Connie has been constantly researching and contacting doctors all over the world and had found a doctor in America who belives there is a treatment for Charlie, initially the doctors at GOSH agreed for charlie to have a trail but have now changed there minds!!!! As you can imagine Absolutely heartbreaking!!!
Connie and her family dont know how much time they have with Charlie and the pressure is on them to find help which may lead to them taking charlie to America for treatment if the UK refuse to help Charlie!!
Money means absolutely nothing in these circumstances but if it can help Charlie live then i would give him every penny
