Story
Community First Responders (CFR’s) are members of the Community who volunteer to respond to Emergency Calls through the 999 system in conjunction with The Ambulance Service and NHS Trust.
Community First Responders provide care to patients in their local area before the arrival of an Ambulance or Paramedic.
CFR’s are trained to provide Life Saving intervention and defibrillation to patients in Cardiac Arrest and other medical emergencies like the following.
Choking
Diabetic problems
Stroke/CVA
Fitting
Unconsciousness
Difficulty in breathing
Peadiatric
Falls
Trauma
Heart Attack
Overdoses/Poisoning inc Carbon Monoxide
Burns/Explosions
Allergies
Animal Bites
Chest Pain
Drownings
Electrocutions
Heat/Cold Problems
Assisting a Health Care Professionals
All our members are volunteers. East Midlands Ambulance Service (EMAS) do support us with supplies of consumables such as oxygen, airways, bandages etc. However, it is down to each CFR group to raise funds to buy, maintain and upgrade equipment as necessary.
