Story
Hi,
I'm Nicole and my partner is Steven, and sadly our beautiful little girl Avery Grace Chidgey was born into the world sleeping on October 12th 2016.
I was 25, newly engaged, expecting our first baby and had the world at my feet, and in one moment, it was turned upside down. Nothing can ever prepare you for the loss of a baby, and the days that followed the news were the hardest I imagine I'll ever have to face - but I wouldn't have got through it without the support of not only Steven, but the bereavement team at St Mary's. From the moment we got into the hospital, we were treated like the only couple in the world who mattered to them. Mothers who are delivering stillborns stay in a special part of the delivery ward, as there are 3 rooms dedicated to those delicate situations. They are not the cold clinical environments, enabling parents to feel calmer and more at ease.
Whilst these rooms are nicer than the usual hospital rooms, I couldn't help but think they needed some love and attention. They're a little outdated, the furniture isn't overly comfy and there isn't much room for any guests so my mum had to sleep upright on a chair. That room is where we spent 3 days, two of which were spent making memories with our little girl - it becomes a very important room, almost like a second home - and that's why I want to raise money to completely revamp them, to ensure its the best possible environment it could be for all future families at St Mary's.
I'm joining forces with my wonderful team at mydentist UK and we're on a mission to create 3 calming/ beautiful/ comfortable rooms. I've got the team at Caramba Marketing on board too to support with design and everything else in between. We want new furniture/ soft furnishings/ decoration - the lot!
So, as well as spreading awareness of stillborn charities this year, help me give back to all the future parents' of angels and help me give Avery a purpose for leaving the world too soon.
Thank you x
