My friend's dog Bear - a Black Labrador Cross - is only 5 yrs old and is very ill.

Bear has recently been diagnosed with Chronic Renal Disease and Anaemia.

The vet advised that any conventional treatment options to improve his quality of life are limited and will be very expensive.
Without treatment, he will die.
Refusing to give up however, my friend consulted a Chinese Medicine practitioner and holistic vet - both of whom believe that there is treatment available for Bear.

Bear is much more than a pet, he is one of the most loving, gentle, faithful dogs i've ever known and a valued member of his family.

Unfortunately, Dogs Trust, Blue Cross & PDSA are unable to offer funding options as Bear's illness does not fall within their remit, he was not registered with them prior to getting ill and they do not fund blood tests, alternative and holistic treatments.

The holistic vet offers a combined conventional and holistic treatment programme and operates on a private treatment basis. Bear will need multiple sessions and repeat blood tests as well as a special diet. Therefore, we hope through this crowdfunding application to raise enough funds for Bear to receive the necessary treatments and so extend his quality of life and improve his health.

Research around canine CKD, and case studies suggest that diet changes and natural treatment options as well as conventional medicine could improve Bear's condition and give him a better quality of life.

While Bear's still eating, drinking and fighting to be alive, we believe he deserves our support and a chance for his health to improve.
