I am raising funds for my trip to Nepal in July 2017 with my school.
Although there will be some leisure activities. The main purpose of our trip is to participate in workshops with leading international agencies and charities, and work on a high-impact poverty reduction program.
Areas covered:
Learn about Nepal’s ecosystems, natural hazards and key environmental issues.
Visit the UK Department for International Development (DFID) office.
Visit Practical Action Nepal’s office, an innovative UK charity which provides low cost technology and knowledge to vulnerable communities to assist in reducing poverty.
We will visit the Headquarters of the Gurkha Welfare Trust, and learn how this British charity supports vulnerable communities in the area by: building clinics and schools, providing clean water and sanitation systems.
We will learn how ACAP promotes ecotourism, environmental conservation, and protects endangered wildlife.
Village Development Project
Four days, working with the local community on a well-planned poverty reduction program .
Depending on the needs and priorities of the local community, this could involve one of the following:-
School Classroom or Heath Clinic: building a new school classroom or health clinic, or extensive renovation of old classrooms or clinic rooms. Often this introduces, for the first time, public education and health care in the community.
Provision of Safe Drinking Water: installing the community’s first piped drinking water system, and directly contributing to lowering infant mortality and disease.
