Weʼve raised £240 to help Duchy Ballet support other young dancers. 5 yr old Sophie & her 7 yr old sister Emelia are riding their bikes 17.5km to raise funds!

    Story

Little Sophie & Emelia age 5 & 7 are undertaking a 17.5 km cycle ride, to raise money for Duchy Ballet, from Portreath on the North Coast, across the spine of Cornwall, to Devoran on the South Coast. This is a big challenge for such little people so they are looking forward to your support and encouragement.

They will follow the Mineral Tramways Coast to Coast cycle route which is certainly more of a challenge for little legs than the flatter Camel Trail.

The bike ride is planned for the first Sunday in March.

    --------

Opportunities for our local dancers are limited due to our distance from the major cities.

Duchy Ballet makes these opportunities possible. It is non-profit making and receives no grant assistance, relying solely on its audience and fund raising to meet the costs of its productions.

It costs many thousands of pounds each year to put on a production to professional standards and costs cannot be met through ticket sales alone.

So we are doing all we can to raise money for the 2017 production.

Each year Duchy Ballet recruits the best dancers from ballet schools all over Cornwall.

Hundreds of young dancers have, over the years, benefited from the experience of performing before ever growing audiences. Providing them with the opportunity to train, rehearse and perform within a professional setting, alongside artists from the National and International stage. These opportunities were previously lacking in Cornwall.

    --------

This year's ballet "Sleeping Beauty" will star two internationally acclaimed dancers along with some of Cornwall’s most talented young dancers.

There will be four performances of the ballet on the 17th and 18th of March. Tickets are available from the Hall for Cornwall on www.hallforcornwall.co.uk
There is also a unique opportunity for schools and/or groups of young people under 18. These group tickets are just £7.00 per 10 young people.

Hi All, I am very sorry, I have just realised I did not give you all an update on the result of the girls ride some months ago! In the end the girls rode approx 21km and rasied approx £1300.00. Duchy Ballet were thrilled at such a large donation, they said it will make a real difference to this years production of the Nutcraker! The girls seem to have insprired people, as I am told that Duchy Ballet has several new fundraisers this year. Thanks you all again very much :-) Derek
