Story
As many of you are aware, a resident of the Bosden Farm Estate lost their life over the weekend, despite best efforts from two of our also resident nurses. A 24/7 defibrillator was not available to them at the time of the incident.
In memory of the resident, we are raising funds to purchase our own community defibrillator, housed in a fully secure coded unit, located in a place that can be accessed 24 hours per day, seven days per week, when a call is made to the emergency services. They will have the location and code, and will distribute to callers as needed.
Funds will buy the fully automated defibrillator unit, the fully secure housing unit, an additional set of children’s pads (not standard with the AED), and a couple of rescue masks. Any remaining money from the fund will be kept and used to maintain the equipment in the future.
In addition, a number of our kind-hearted resident nurses, paramedics, first-aiders, and AED trainers have given up their time to run a number of free CPR and AED use training courses, for anyone that wishes to attend. This vital training will mean that as many of us as possible are equipped with the knowledge of CPR and AED use.
Thanks for reading, lets see if we can get this sorted fast!

7 years agoI will be meeting with Bosden Farm Dental on Friday 3rd, to make arrangements for the installation of the AED. :) Please keep donating, every little helps and although we no longer need to buy the AED (cost of around £960); we still need everything else. I will update with costings after the meeting on Friday. :) Thanks all.

7 years agoBosden Farm Dental will now be joining forces & allowing their AED to be stored outside the practice for 24/7 access by the community. I will be meeting with them soon to finalise all the details, but this is fantastic news! We do still need to buy a secure, coded box, some insurance and other necessary items, so I will recalculate how much we need to get started & a year or twos 'upkeep'. We definitely need more than we currently have. Any money not used for this specific project will be used for other community projects by majority approval
