Story
Our plan is to open a training project involving Adults with a Learning Disability. Training in blocks of 12 weeks for 6 people to attain an SVQ in work readiness. The course will involve practical and theory learning in the following: building a CV, interview skills, Food hygiene, Health & Safety, First Aid, strengths, personality traits, and personal appearance. Along with making a variety of hot drinks and selection of sandwiches and the presentation and service of food. This qualification has already been accredited by the SQA for the Bread Maker to deliver.
At the end of the course the individual will have learned a lot about themselves; their strengths, ambitions, personality type, interaction with others & their abilities.
In conjunction with the course we would like to offer individuals learning and experience in Health & Well-being workshops, classes, presentations and/ or events. These will compliment and further extend our services. This training course will not only gives the individual the knowledge and skills needed for employment but also the chance to increase their confidence, self-esteem and social network through the soft options that are so very important. The venture will extend to a wider range of clients and customers as we intend to make our new venture community focused open to all walks of life, particularly in the wellbeing classes etc which would be available to anyone in the community to attend. We aim to be a fully inclusive project. Our idea is borne out of experience and knowledge of both our clients and industry expertise. There is a distinct lack of opportunities for adults with learning disabilities to engage and integrate into society. We want to create learning and experience pathway in partnership with other organisations.
The funds will be spent on class room and meeting room furniture and equipment that is needed for the project: computers, broad band and the other IT provisions needed to get it started.
