Story
Hi there, as some of you are aware, Brekern has been selected to join the Great Britain Team for the next Ball Hockey competition in Slovakia, however some of you may not know more about Brekern so here we go...
Brekern was diagnosed with Autism (Aspergers) quite early on and despite a lot of help, he has really struggled - sights, sounds, smells, textures have regularly been too much for him. He has required teaching assistants through-out his education and speaking to his previous head teacher today, we were discussing when he was younger, where he'd hide in the coats, couldn't go into the assembly hall, headbutt the floor when he couldn't cope, wearing ear defenders to help him cope in general.
Over the years Brekern has grown and flourished, he's struggled to follow the 'social norm' and establish friendships BUT just over a year ago, Brekern discovered Ball Hockey, instantly he loved it, preferring to be a goalie, stating that when he's in goal, he 'feels whole.'
Over the last year, Brekern has had to overcome issues with textures and sound, with wearing his hockey pads and the impact of wearing a helmet etc (which for someone with Autism Spectrum Disorder - ASD) is huge.
Now Brekern has been selected to go to Slovakia as part of the GB team however this isn't cheap. Ball Hockey has improved Brekern's life, confidence, social skills etc and he deserves to go but I am struggling to find the funds - flights, kit, accommodation, etc even some ASD sensory aids to help him cope while we're traveling and there.
Any help would be unbelievably appreciated
Thank you xx

Clearly we're going over the amount so what I'm going to it, look at sensory coping tools/toys for while we're over there but remaining fundraising is going to be put in a bank account and used for future trips/competitions etc so we have a starting point in future xxx Love you all so much
