The Gala Day was re-introduced to the town in 1978 by Carluke Community Council and has since become an important fixture on the yearly calendar of the wider local communities of Carluke, Braidwood and Law. Over the years the Gala Day has grown both in size and popularity. We now see over 20 entrants in the annual parade including various bands, schools, community groups and local organisations. It is thanks to the goodwill and spirit of these groups that the parade is a success each year and we want it to continue to grow from strength to strength. We always welcome new participants!

The staging of the Gala Day can cost around £10000 and we are indebted to our local businesses and those who make private donations for their generosity. Through various fundraising events we are able to meet our costs. We would also be able to host more low-cost fun family events for our local community during the lead-up and on the day itself.
