Weʼre raising £100,000 to Help fund a child with Cerebral Palsy to have Selective Dorsal Rhizotomy surgery!!
Crowdfunding is a new type of fundraising where you can raise funds for your own personal cause, even if you're not a registered nonprofit.
The page owner is responsible for the distribution of funds raised.
Hi, my names David and I’m 16 years old,
I have had cerebral palsy diplegia for the entirety of my life. This affects both of my legs and right hand meaning I am not able to walk independently; this also means I struggle to do things such as writing. When I was 6 years old I had an operation in the USA and it changed my life as it enabled me to be able to walk with support which I was not able to do prior to this operation, along with other things.
I shall never be able to walk independently, but over the years I have to come to realise that walking is not the be all and end all, and that I am still able to enjoy life in the same way everybody does, I just have to sit down!
I was very fortunate in that I was lucky enough to have the opportunity to go and have this special surgery in the USA. For me to give someone else the opportunity It would mean the world as it would improve their ability to walk and ultimately improve their chances of living their life to the fullest. We aim to raise £70'000 from different events and through your generous support. One of these events is for me to walk just over 5km, this feat will include extremely rough terrain and will take me 13 hours to complete. In the past, i have watched my peers at the school complete this run and have dreamt that one day i would be able to join them. This year i am doing that!
So far as of February 2021, we have raised a staggering £50,000 and aim to fully complete our goal of raising £70,000 by the end of 2021! Due to COVID the event sadly wasn't able to take place in March 2020, however we fully aim to complete the challenge by the end of this year.
In advance we would like to thank anyone who donates and please do go check out the new website and our instagram.
In advance thank you to anyone who donates!
