The Malaysian community in the North-east of England is very vibrant and growing every year. However, in order to sustain and facilitate the growth of our society whilst enhancing our events, we require additional external support.

The Durham University Malaysian Society (DUMAS) is a registered student society of Durham University and plays an active part in diversifying the cultural scene at Durham. Besides being a warm and tightly-knit student organisation, DUMAS further seeks to promote and share Malaysian hospitality in our community and region.

Not only does DUMAS provide Malaysian students with the opportunity to experience the comforts of home whilst living abroad, but we also welcome students from other nationalities to experience the enriching tradition and culture that is associated with Malaysia. In addition, DUMAS is a platform for members to encapsulate themselves in the beauty of the North East region and also meet fellow Malaysian students from other universities.

Throughout the year, DUMAS organises fun and exciting events that leave our members with a memorable experience of their time at Durham.

In the past 2 months, we have already hosted our Welcome Party for both freshers and returners and a Diwali celebration, complete with elaborately choreographed Bollywood and traditional dances.
