My son, Daniel, Is 27 years old and has been chronically ill with Lyme disease & Babesia for the last 3 years.

He had his own house living with his partner, working full time as a software developer. He used to enjoy weight lifting and loved being outdoors.

In summer 2014 he fell seriously ill after a holiday in the lake district which began with severe neurological issues such as : constant dizziness,blurry vision,vertigo,tinnitus,extreme headaches,unable to walk properly,difficulty processing information.

He was rushed to A&E but doctors there were clueless.  He saw several NHS doctors and Daniel suggested Lyme Disease as he had now developed joint pain as well. They didn't believe Lyme disease was a problem in the UK and rather than giving him much needed antibiotics, they gave him pain killers and referred him to neurologists. During this time his symptoms progressed to palpitations,hearing loss,visual disturbances ,tachycardia , air hunger, severe chest and abdominal pain, stabbing in kidney area and head.

As he felt like he was on deaths door he decided to get a loan and pay for private Lyme testing. It came back positive for Lyme & Babesiosis. For the last 2 years he has used these funds to pay for treatment from a specialist in the USA - Washington DC. He is around 40% better and very slowly improving with ongoing treatment.

Although he is able to force himself to work now, he cannot afford the next cycle of treatment, It costs hundreds of pounds per month in antibiotics and he has to travel to the USA every year in order for the clinic to continue treating him.

We have all been severely affected by his suffering, both financially and emotionally. He has an 11 month old baby girl and he just wants to be around for her growing up and do normal Dad things, that's why I have decided to try and get him a little help. He is determined not to give up.

Any help will be used to help fund 1 years care and treatment.
