Dexter was born at 32 weeks and spent just over 3 weeks in hospital, we were very lucky he didn't seem to have any major problems at the time. As time went on i noticed Dexter was not hitting any of his milestones and spent most the time screaming in pain.
Cerebral palsy was first mentioned when Dexter was about 9 months old.
Dexter has asymmetric spastic diplegia, GMFCS 2. Which affects both his legs and his left hand. Amazingly Dexter did start to walk but on his toes and very wobbly. He screamed in pain every night and had never slept through the night.
That all changed on March 7th 2016, Dexter had SDR surgery releasing the tightness in his legs and stopping the pain that he had daily .
Dexter is recovering really well, but this involves daily physio. He has very little physio from the NHS. So my lovely friends are doing the Sodbury Slog to raise money so Dexter can have more physio and go on more strength and fitness courses at SDR fitness and strength wales. A 6 day intensive physio course costs £550 which is what TEAM DEXTER is aiming to raise.
All these things will help with his ongoing recovery so he can do all the little things like play football, ride his bike and "run like the wind" :-)

Emma, Caroline, Rachel, Louise, Helen, Laura,& Rachel are all being wonderful & trained all summer, some have never ran before, to run the Sodbury Slog renowned for its 10 miles of hills and mud, on Sunday 13th November to raise money for Dexter's physio.
