Story
Eddie Kirkwood is a full time wheelchair user as a result of his disability, cerebal palsy. He likes to keep himself busy and is well known in the Shawlands and Queen's Park area of Glasgow for his litter picking. He's done this for some years now and he does it unpaid, merely to keep his local area tidy.
Eddie's passion is football. His disability meant that he was never able to play the game but in 2013 a Scottish Powerchair Football League started, enabling Eddie to enjoy the sport he loved.
The league has progressed since the early days and many players now have sports chairs. Eddie played last season for Queen's Park Spiders in his NHS chair, the one that he also picks up the litter with. They came bottom of the league as they could not compete against the faster sports chairs. At the final fixtures of the season, Eddie encouraged his teammates to start a new club and Glasgow Gladiators Powerchair FC was born.
Eddie needs a Sports Powerchair for the new season which commences in September. The chair will cost him over £5000, a large sum for someone who works for nothing.
Please donate and share to fund Eddie's chair.

8 years agoThank you to all that supported Eddie. In just 30 days he managed to raise enough funds to buy his chair. The final amount was just £162 short of his target but it is still enough. He has gone for an Invacare Storm 3 Competition Football Powerchair thanks to the generosity of 348 very kind people in the Southside of Glasgow and beyond, including Hollywood L.A. Here he is testing out the chair at Glasgow Club Bellahouston against his Glasgow Gladiator Claymores teammate, Ross. This is when Eddie decided to go for the Storm 3.

8 years agoThanks to all you very generous people out there, Eddie is getting excited about the prospect of achieving his target and being able to afford a Football Powerchair. Queen's Park Mobility kindly took an Invacare TDX SP2 sports chair along to training tonight to let Eddie test it out. Seems Eddie is going to go for this model so he's going to need to achieve the target we set.

8 years agoThank you to everyone who has been so generous in supporting Eddie and getting him half way to his goal of a Sports Powerchair. At football training tonight he told me that he's been cleaning up the streets on the Southside for the past 6 to 7 years. Photo: Eddie & his teammates

I've seen him outside the Queens Park a few times, picking up litter. Thank you, Eddie, for doing that.
