Story
Eloise has been given the chance to go on a month long project with the charity Camps International in Costa Rica & Nicaragua. She will be involved with a number of community and ecological projects in both countries.
Camps International work with local communities across the globe, often in third world countries, to create real impact and make a difference there.
Their projects are numerous:
School Improvement; building new classrooms so that more children can attend school in a safe environment, construction of school desks and implementation of proper toilets, improvement of school kitchen facilities, so that more mouths can be fed, helping the children to improve their English.
Wildlife conservation; digging and maintaining watering holes for elephants. erecting elephant deterrent fences around community crops and villages, maintaining perimeter fences of wildlife reserves, educating local communities on living peacefully alongside wildlife reducing human/wildlife conflict, de-worming livestock to ensure animals are healthy for the community.
Clean water provision; digging wells and installing pumps, implement filtration systems to clean exisiting water supplies, install water tanks.
They also construct homes, plant trees and undertake reforestation projects, take part in community infrastructure improvement projects, offer a healthcare programme and set up environmental recycling initiatives.
All the projects are undertaken by the participants. They jump straight in digging irrigation ditches, building bridges, planting trees etc.
This is an amazing chance for Eloise to travel to and understand the difficulties communities face in these countries. However more importantly this is her chance to make a real difference to these problems and others lives.
Please support these projects if you can. She needs to raise so much because such a large proportion goes to the actual projects themselves.
