Story
Emilia is 8 months old and was born with a severe neuromuscular disease giving her very weak muscle tone with progressive muscle waste over a short time, loss of mobility and motor function. The condition she is being treated for is Spinal Muscular Atrophy.
This devastating condition is the leading cause of infant death in the UK with no treatments currently available.
Emilia has been in Bristol Royal Children's Hospital for the past month and previous month in Torbay Hospital. When she was first taken into hospital she had a collapsed lung and pneumonia with her condition of weak muscles it was very hard to move the infection from her chest with repeat physiotherapy throughout the day and night. She currently spends 16 hours a day on a non invasive ventilator. She is unable to feed normally and is fed by Nasojejunal tube awaiting a Gastrostomy operation.
Emilia is a very bright and smiley girl with beautiful big blues, her condition doesn't affect her mental development.
Please help us meet our target no matter how small the contribution is, it all helps our princess.

7 years agoWe have had some amazing news regarding Spinraza. Emilia has finally been accepted on the trial for this life prolonging drug after 6 months of battling she will receive her first dose next week. She has started to absorb through her stomach once again and is currently 2/3rd of the way there! The complex team here are planning Emilia to go back to Torbay Hospital in the coming weeks if she continues progressing with feeding. We have finally got a new home in Brixham and are no longer homeless! Thanks to everyone donating and sharing 💜

7 years agoThank you for all donations. Emilia sadly had her right lung collapse over last weekend which sent us back to Bristols Paediatric Intensive Care Unit. The physio's, nurses, doctors and consultants have worked tirelessly to get her right lung inflated which has been a success. Emilia's neuromuscular condition gives her a very weak lungs and could collapse again at anytime. She is still awaiting her gastrostomy in may. We are looking at clinical trials to help her muscles with development and are fighting to get her the spinraza treatment.
