Story
We are a small school in the rural County of Rutland, located in Oakham.
The school has been awarded £10,000 from the Big Lottery Fund to build and develop an all weather sports pitch, however, we need to match this funding within the year to complete the project (if we fail to do so we lose the Big Lottery Fund grant).
The Friends of English Martyrs (our parent fundraising group) have pledged £5,000 from their fundraising efforts this year, which is fantastic. We still need another £3 - 5,000, which is why we thought crowd funding might help us to get this project to fruition.
Although a small school we are currently number one in the small schools sports league across the County. We take our sport very seriously! We hold the Sainsburys 'Gold Mark' for sport and have done for three consecutive years. The key to our success is about every child having the opportunity to be involved regardless of their level of competence or ability - we are fully inclusive.
Our children are passionate about sport which is why we want to ensure they can train and practice throughout the year. The all-weather pitch will enable the children to access outdoor sport all year round and remain competitive with other local schools.
We envisage that the all weather pitch will also be available for use by the local community, our children have taken part in a number of activities using other local facilities and we would hope to encourage local groups to use our pitch, tennis, bowls, cricket, football, netball, skipping, basketball, dodge ball, to name just a few sports in which we currently participate.
Please pledge what you can to help us to complete this project and further enrich the lives of the young people at our school and within the local community.
Thank you
