Story
People of Flixton...let's show just how much we care about saving our much loved, community green belt! Even a £1 donation will make a difference! you can choose any amount you want when you get to the donation page - you don't have to go with the suggested amounts - we genuinely appreciate every single hard earned pound - thank you!
Many people who live in and care about the beautiful, historical village of Flixton want to challenge Trafford Council's plans to build 750 homes on William Wroe golf course. We also want to stop the land at Flixton Park, Flixton Field and Flixton House being taken out of Green Belt and downgrade it to 'protected open space', as we firmly believe that this would leave the whole site very vulnerable to development in the future.
You can watch a short video about it here bit.ly/FlixtonGreenBelt
To do this, we need to prove to the independent planning inspector that there are more suitable sites in Trafford on which to build houses, and that the Council does NOT have the exceptional circumstances required to move the green belt boundary.
We firmly believe that challenging the 'exceptional circumstances' element needed to remove Green Belt status is our best way forward, and are looking to appoint a planning consultant to carry out this work on our behalf. They will independently assess all of the brownfield sites in Trafford and produce an up to date report for us which we will use in our challenge. We have budgeted a provisional figure of £5k but will go out to a competitive tender of three quotes to ensure we get best value for our money.
So, please donate whatever you can. If we pull together we can achieve great things, for us and for future generations.
Thank you so much in advance, and please share, share, share!

7 years agoWow thanks everyone - we've broken through the £2,000 barrier - that's amazing! We need everybody's help to spread the word and keep going. There were about 2000 people attended our demo, so if you have a friend or neighbour who went it would be great if you could see if they know about it. We've also organised a public meeting on Monday 3 April at Flixton House with Councillor Ward and Councillor Coupe. Details of how to register will be available soon - join our Facebook group at bit.ly/FlixtonSOS to find out first or check back here soon! X

7 years agoWow! Just over 24 hours in and we are a third of the way there! And how about this for coincidence? Co-incidence! 82 years ago today, Urmston Urban District Council completed the purchase of the Worthington-Wright Estate. The land was to be kept for the people of Flixton, Urmston and Davyhulme For All Time. It is now up to residents of Flixton, Urmston and Davyhulme to ensure that this community space, our land, remains forever as intended; an open space to be enjoyed by residents of this fantastic community. Protected by Green Belt status

Sorry I cannot donate any more at this time; the closure of my shop has left me almost penniless! However I would like to wish you well and I hope Urmston/Flixton gets the result it deserves! x
