My family have recently learnt of some truly devastating news about our cousin's daughter Florence who is 3 years old. She has been recently diagnosed with a medical condition called Gangliosidosis GM1. This is a rare genetic disorder which is a terminal condition. There is no cure at present for this condition. It is a devastating condition which will gradually affect Florence's ability to walk, talk and swallow. Children affected with this condition are unlikely to make it to adulthood.

So Abby and I have decided to do some fund raising for the family to ensure that Florence receives all the help she can get as her illness progresses and her disabilities increase. The money will help the family with any medical equipment that Florence may need, go towards clinical trials into this condition which are currently taking place in America and most importantly to ensure that Florence and her family are able to make lots of special memories in the time that they have together.

Our challenge is to undertake a 50k walk in one day over the Brecon Beacons in Wales on 3rd June 2017. We have both been training where we can around work, children and general life commitments. We are exciting but slightly terrified of taking on this challenge but we are totally up for it and keeping everything crossed that we make it to the finish line!
