Mid 2015 my mum, Mandy Bonello was diognosed with grade 4 breast cancer. This meant that she had to go through many batches of the painful chemotherapy then followed by an operation to remove her lump. After all that she had radiotherapy and after the extremely painful, long and tedious process she was cleared. The recovery wasn't quick and wasn't easy but we beat this cancer.

Then early September 2016 my mum was submitted in hospital urgently with head pains, we later came to know that she had a substantial size tumour on her brain which couldn't be removed; this caused her excrutiating pain and had to be put on to drips and lots of morphine causing her to lose an sense or normality. She was then hit by strokes in her sleep causing her face to droop and couldn't see or hear properly. Things such as swallowing became extremely hard. The doctors didn't know what to do so they did more tests to find a secondary pain in her body which turns out to be a secondary bone cancer. I saw my mum for the last time on Thursday the 6th October at 2:30pm and sadly she peacefully passed away in her sleep on the 6th October 10:10pm.

I want to give back to doctors and nurses who made her more comfortable. And as the Chartwell Unit is at risk of closure as it does amazing work for cancer patients.
