    Story

Please donate to our fundraising campaign to help Francesca Campbell a 9 year old P6 pupil of St Josephs PS Carryduff. Francesca will undergo a bone marrow transplant in Bristol early December 2016.

Francesca was diagnosed with leukaemia in August 2016; due to the nature and type of her leukaemia the specialised treatment it is only available in Bristol and Francesca’s eldest brother Ben (11) is her bone marrow match and donor. Ben is a Year 8 pupil at Our Lady and St Patrick's College Knock.

Francesca and Ben with their parents have to travel from Belfast Northern Ireland to Bristol to get the treatment she needs. They will be based in Bristol during this difficult and critical time. Michaela and Gavin alternate travel to and from Bristol so that one parent is with Francesca whilst the other is with Ben as he recovers and their youngest son Christopher who is in P1.

Francesca’s bone marrow treatment begins in earnest 1st week December 2016 and the Campbell family will have two children hospitalised in Bristol, away from their family and friends.

Francesca will remain in Bristol until March/April 2017 and her family will commute to and from Bristol during Francesca’s treatment over Christmas and well into the New Year.

Message from Micahela in Bristol... Just want to say a huge thank you for all the support!! Overwhelmed by it and out of everything bad that happened in 2016 that's one positive thing we'll take from it; people's kindness :) Really has made a difference to us through this whole journey! Message from Gavin in Bristol...An eventful Christmas period for Francesca has seen her come out of a period of sickness and hopefully get on the road to recovery. She was able to spend Christmas day with her brothers in her hospital room and open presents together, which made her happy. We hope you all had a very Merry Christmas and thank you for the continuing help and best wishes. #teambencesca
