    Story

In October 2016 I heard some news, a friend of mine; Sandra Kane; her 3 year old daughter, Frankie, had been admitted to hospital with a seemingly innocent bladder infection.

In the days following, while I kept track of Facebook for the updates and banter that helped to keep her spirits up while she was by her bed side, I was amazed at the support they all received from friends and family all over the world. People wishing Sandra and Dave well and offering their support in any way they could. The love for Frankie was clear.

None of us were prepared for her latest update: Frankie was being transferred over to Manchester Children's hospital by ambulance following the results from an ultrasound scan.

They had discovered a "mass" in her bladder.

With all the love in the world the support continued to flood in. More tests followed, more updates and then, there is was:

    Bladder embryonal rhabdomyosarcoma.

Sandra and Dave's world has just been completely flipped upside down. They had gone from being a normal family of four where their biggest stress was getting two children out of the door in the morning without them wanting to bring the entire contents of their bedroom with them; to a family who's future was now focused on getting their daughter better.

With radiotherapy being one of the immediate forms of treatment, the thought of little Frankie being exposed to the risks and side effects doesn't sit well with Sandra and Dave so they have inquired what options they have. The NHS have indicated they may be able put Frankie forward for a less risky, more effective Proton Beam Therapy trial.

This isn't a definite - it's a maybe. If they can't offer this then the treatment is available privately in Germany.

    The cost - £80,000!

I've set this page up so we can get started now - so all of those friends and family who have offered to help in any way they can - can do just that.

It's a massive target but it's for Frankie - just in case!
