This Just Giving page was set up to raise money for Gemma Papp and her two boys to go on a much needed holiday to make wonderful memories together!
Gemma had symptoms starting in early 2015 when she was 31 years old. She repeatedly went to her GP and they just kept sending her home with a prescription for pain medication. In June of this year she was finally sent for an X-ray but at this point it didn't show anything that could lead to the shocking diagnosis she would not long later receive.
In the October after being admitted into hospital for a stomach bleed due to the overuse of pain medication, an
X-ray preformed showed a mass which was a tumour in her right arm.
The biopsies were preformed promptly and it was discovered that it was a rare type of bone cancer called Sarcoma.
At this stage the Cancer had spread and Gemma received the shocking and sudden news that she only had an average time of 12 months to live.
Gemma went on to receive treatment from January 2016-September 2016 which left her with 3rd degree burns under her arm from Radiotherapy sessions and Chemotherapy was started not long after resulting breakdown of her veins where she wasn't able to take the chemotherapy treatment so she had numerous attempted failures with the chest portacaths during this course of treatment.
Thankfully through all of her numerous complications in treatment Gemma has remained stable and outlived her 12month diagnosis.
The cancer has now cleared a great deal and she's in partial remission.
Through all the series of unfortunate events Gemma has remained positive and had a true fighting spirit to get through this and prove that the doctors were wrong!
Undoubtedly it's been a trying time not only on Gemma but her two sons, family and close friends! During this period it must be mentioned that her grandmother who was by her bedside and loved her dearly passed away in December 2016 whilst fighting hard herself with numerous types of cancers for over 20 years!
