The Halimah Trust is a Derby-based charity that was set up in memory of Halimah Ahmed.
The flagship project for the charity was a school for an orphan and needy girls in Wazirabad, Pakistan. The Halimah School of Excellence caters for over 400 girls and has been going from strength to strength since it was opened in 2011.
The older girls are now ready to go on to college, so a makeshift college has been created in 2 top floor classrooms of the school. This is not ideal as more and more girls will finish school and there will not be enough space for them all in the 2 classrooms. The Halimah Trust is now fundraising for The Halimah College to be built next to the school for the girls to continue their education.
Where we come into this... The Halimah Trust hosted a Gala Dinner on Sunday 14th May and managed to raise over £74,000 on the night through donations and pledges.
We pledged to raise £2000 to go towards the building of a classroom within the college. We need to raise this amount by mid-June so work can start in July! All we need is 20 people donating £100 each to get us to our target as fast as possible! Alternatively, anything you can donate would be absolutely amazing and greatly appreciated!
