Story
Luke and I married a little over a year ago and soon became expectant parents of identical twin daughters. At 26 weeks into the pregnancy I was admitted into Birmingham women's hospital to make sure both babies were ok.
Events transpired which meant they were born at 28 weeks gestation on 1st July 2016 at Birmingham womens hospital.
Harper and Rae Paton weighed in at a tiny 2lb and 1lb 12oz.
They were very quickly transferred to Coventry university hospital's intensive care unit for critical care where Rae spent 10 weeks.
During week one Harper become ill and was sent to Birmingham children's hospital to have stomach surgery. She started to make a recovery in Birmingham womens hospital but sadley on Monday 15 th August, we lost our 6 week old daughter, Harper Paton due significant and multiple complications.
Rae Paton continues to thrive and come home to mummy and daddy on October 10 2016 weighing 5lb 6oz. She left hospital exactly 100 days old.
As a thank you for the care both my daughters and we received and in memory of Harper we would like to give a little back. We want to order equipment and send it directly to the units so we can ensure all receive the funds raised.
The neonatal unit will be listed in order of distance, Starting at Hereford hospital and finishing at Coventry hospital. Once all have received thier free bid items, up to the value of £500, we will then fundraise for the next hospital. We are hoping to give each unit the chance to complete the free bid form, with items they have chosen, at least once a year.
We would be very grateful for your donations, no matter how small.
