I am running the Paris marathon on April 8th in memory of my mother in law, Denise Molyneux.
Denise was, for most of her professional life, a nurse at royal Preston hospital. She worked on various wards for 30 years, but for many years and up until her death, she worked on ward 24. Denise was an amazing nurse, mum and friend and her sudden and unexpected death from sepsis on 15th November has left a hole in the lives of those that knew and loved her, that cannot ever be filled.
She loved being a nurse, she loved ward 24, and was always involved in any efforts to raise money for equipment for that ward. Sadly the NHS cannot provide every piece of equipment for every ward, in every hospital all over the UK.
It seems a fitting tribute that in her memory we can come together and raise funds that will be passed onto the ward manager and Denise's close friend Jackie, who will decide what equipment will best benefit the ward and the patients who arrive on ward 24 for treatment.
Denise was an amazing, selfless, funny and loving woman, there are not enough words to describe how much we miss her but it's a privilege to be able to do this in her honour and keep her memory alive in the place she worked for so many years, ward 24.
