    Story

    Inspired4Life
The overall project I’m organising Inspired4Life involves breaking Guinness World Records and using sport to achieve the following aims:

Raising vital funds to help beat cancer and raising awareness about early detection
Promoting sport and encouraging participation rates in children, in particular, women’s sport and girls
Inspiring children to make a difference & educating about keeping active and a balanced diet

The first Inspired4Life event was based around me completing a 52 Hour Punch Bag Marathon (effectively just me hitting a punch bag continuously for a new Guinness World Record of 52 Hours) which raised just over £20,000.

While I was punching, at the same venue, hundreds of school children broke their own mass-participation Guinness World Records such as “The Most People Wearing Paper Crowns” and took part in a number of Sports Taster Sessions led by professional coaches and athletes from different sports including; Football, Rugby, Netball, Hockey, Athletics, Handball, Dance & Martial Arts.

Following the incredibly sad passing of my team-mate Gary on his birthday, 15 fantastic friends joined me for our second event, playing football for a new Guinness World Record of 56 hours, raising a further £20,000, and we again had hundreds of school children taking part in activities as before.

Unfortunately there was then more bad news, with a further family bereavement and one of the girls I coach, Myra, being diagnosed with Lymphoma and starting chemotherapy. However, this has simply made me even more determined to fight longer and harder, and I decided to establish Inspired4Life as a proper charity in its own right, agreed with my work to go down to 4 days a week to allow me to spend even more time on it, and set myself a target of raising £10,000,000 to help beat cancer, and a further £1,000,000 to help develop and promote sport at both elite and grass roots level.
