My mum Jean was diagnosed with cancer last year and even though all chemotherapy and radiotherapy treatments were tough she put a brave face on and tried to inspire others to do the same. In her final weeks the cancer moved into her brain and this changed her personality making it very difficult for everyone.

Jean was admitted to the Cornhill Hospice in Perth where she spent the last 5 weeks of life. The nurses and staff were truly remarkable and not only did they care for my mum, they also cared for us, her family, including providing us with overnight stay facilities for the final few days. I cannot stress how important and helpful this was.

Now that Jean has passed away the centre are still there for us to offer support in many ways. All of which are complimentary. Counselling services are vital for families who might struggle with the loss and are invaluable.

I want to raise the money as a thank you to all of the staff and the great work they do. The money helps keep nurses, cleaners, reception staff, counsellors and drivers there. It helps pay towards the electricians and plumbers who get called out. It provides families with quiet rooms and a chapel. It helps pay for the cleaning of the bedding and room I stayed in. It helps pay for the beautiful gardens patients can sit in so they are not confined to a dreary bed. It pays for the teas, coffees and biscuits provided to make family visits more comfortable. It pays for the lounge area for families and visitors who spend long days helping to care for their sick relatives and friends.
