They are the Krantikaries, the Revolutionaries: 15 girls, ages 14-22, who are the daughters of sex workers, survivors of trafficking, born and raised in India's most infamous red-light area. In 2015, they created Lal Batti Express, a one-of-a-kind production about the lives of young women from Mumbai’s infamous red-light area. The play has a train theme that follows the girls through their pasts, present, and the changes they hope to bring to their future.
The emphasis in developing this show has been to enable the young women to transcend their trauma and move towards collective healing.
