Story
In 2005, at the age of 36, Kristina Trewick was struck with the terrifying diagnosis that everyone fears. Cancer. Specifically, Kristina had breast cancer. She had treatment consisting of a lumpectomy and 4 weeks of radiotherapy which ridded her of the cancer and she was given the all clear... Until 2009 when Kristina found that she had a second, new tumour in the same breast as the original.
In order to treat this cancer, Kristina had a mastectomy, 4 months of chemotherapy, followed by daily tablets. Then in 2011, Kristina decided to take preventative measures and have her other breast removed via mastectomy. With the risk of reoccurrence dramatically reduced, Kristina had reconstructive surgery and began moving on in her life with the optimistic outlook that got her through the previous few terrifying years.
Then in 2015, the unthinkable happened. Kristina was diagnosed with cancer for the third time. 10 years after her original diagnosis, secondary cancer had developed in her lungs, liver and lymph nodes as well as developing Bony disease.
Determined not to give up, Kristina went through more gruelling rounds of chemotherapy to reduce the tumours so that they were stable enough to manage with more daily tablets. This, however isn't enough. She still intermittently feels excruciating abdominal pain and her tumour markers fluctuate. This is why Kristina is looking to travel to Germany early this year to receive revolutionary treatment that is not available in the UK.
Kristina has contributed hugely to charity over the years, by running sponsored races as well as abseiling and Zip-lining from the Tyne bridge, all to raise money for the cause that she holds dear. But now its time for us to help her.
Please help Kristina by donating to this page. Every contribution helps towards the cost of treatment and the living expenses that will be incurred in Germany. Kristina is a huge inspiration to all that know her, and deserves all the help we can give.

GARY SURTEES
7 years agoAs I am sure you are all aware by now, our dear Kristina passed away before getting to travel to Germany for treatment. As this was a page for a personal cause, it is only fitting that the money raised should go to Kristina's son, Jack. I believe you will all agree that it will be appreciated more by Jack than if it were to go to a big charity and I'm sure Kristina would have been happy with this decision. Thank you all for your donations, Kristina was incredibly grateful and humbled by your generosity. Kristina will forever be in our hearts.
