Story
The International Youth Games are a competition held between our twin cities with one of 4 cities hosting the Games on an annual basis. (Aalborg, Almere, Rendsburg and Lancaster).
The Games see young people (usually aged 14-16yrs old) from our twin cities taking part in a variety of different sports along with music and dance.
In recent years the Games have been run and funded by Lancaster City Council. In March this year Lancaster City Council unfortunately had to withdraw funding and organising the Games.
A group of sports leaders have taken on the task of running the Games to keep Lancaster youngsters involved. This is huge task, but all the leaders are giving up their time and efforts to make this possible.
We can not do this without your support.
We have secured funding for the venues we will be using for the sports, we also have secured the funding for first aid requirements.
But we still have a lot to fund. Such as welcome packs, medals, insurance, participants disco and team tracksuit.
We are hopeful we will have some funding coming from grants etc but need tp prove we can gain sufficient funding to run the event in full before the grants will be given.
Please help the young people of Lancaster have access to this fantastic opportunity - and what better time than with interest in sport at a peak after the Rio Olympics.
