    Story

So, this is Callan one of my old pupils, a typical 16 year old teenager. Having just finished sitting his GCSE's earlier this year Callan was looking forward to a family holiday in Orlando, but had an accident when he fell off a rope swing. Unfortunately, two months later he is still in hospital in Sheffield, where he was flown by the Air Ambulance after breaking his neck. Callan is making excellent progress and is trying to regain use of his arms and legs, but due to the type of injury progress is slow and limited. He currently still has no feeing in his legs and is trying build up strength in his arms and hands again. It is likely that he will have to remain in hospital for another few months until he is stable enough to come home, which is why I need your help to raise some money for him and his family. Travel costs alone between Sheffield and Huddersfield are mounting up already after the two months at the hospital.

Before Callan leaves hospital he will need a lightweight wheelchair, which unfortunately are not provided by the NHS or the local council, and chairs specifically suited to his needs come with a price tag of around £5000. That's all well and good if we are able to buy him a chair, but then how will he get into the family home? Again, basic funding from the council will usually provide a stairlift for use in the home, however this would not be adequate due to the potential safety issues of Callan falling off the chair. It is imperative therefore that his parents have a lift installed in the house, which again is extremely expensive, then add in all the costings for other building adjustments that need to be made and the bill is quite significant.

Callan is determined to get better and is giving 100% to his rehabilition programme so that he can hopefully join his friends in college and study at A level and be the successful young man we know he can be.

So, please dig deep and let's try and help out this deserving family.
