Story
Our brave little lion man lights up our lives with his fabulous smile and infectious giggle most days. So far in his short life he has been to the operating theatre seven times. After mystifying doctors for almost a year he was diagnosed with a really rare genetic condition kabuki syndrome which affects 1 in every 32,000 children. Iain has complex health needs he requires oxygen overnight, he is fed by a gastrostomy feeding tube as he can't safely swallow yet. He has a stoma as he was born without an anus, he has an operation in September to create one in the hope that by christmas time he will be able to go to the toilet normally. Iain will require complex open heart surgery in the next year or so as it stands the operation he requires has only been carried out on a handful of children around the world. As far as we know it has never been performed at Yorkhill. This fund is to enable us to be in a position to respond to any changes in Iains conditions and to ensure that we can get the best medical attention no matter where we have to go in the world. These funds will be held in a bank account which is controlled by Iains grandad and money will be used only when agreed by our trustees. We can't set up a proper charity because it will only benefit our precious boy, but as parents we cannot sit back and just do nothing. Anyone who fundraises can use this page to donate funds. We appreciate you taking the time to read a little bit of our boys story and thank you so very much for making a donation.

8 years agoHuge thank you to Willie Crowe for securing £500 from Taylor Wimpey and to the g84 Helensburgh junior netball club for their amazing £250 donation. I was priviledged to go along and speak to them about wee Iain last Friday. We are eternally grateful for your support.

8 years agoSo fundraising is going well. The Dog House donated £440 from their recent golf day. Tudge had £225 in extra sponsors and Willie Crowe has been doing a great job getting support for our wee guy. The little lion man has had a rough few weeks with a chest infection and as usual he has been star. We had been worried that he wouldn't be better for his pre op assessment yesterday. Thankfully he passed and we are now heading to hospital on Sunday afternoon to once again place our precious son in the arms of the wonderful surgeons.

As a family we go through each day with the knowledge that our boy is a ticking timebomb waiting to get sick it is terrifying. But to not do everything in our power to change that is worse. Our brave little lion is too precious and we simply refuse to let anything happen to him.
