    Story

Lucas' Legacy is a registered charity raising awareness and funding for Childhood Brain Tumour Research to help find new and more effective treatments for other children.

In January 2016 we pledged to raise £50,000 in Lucas's name. So far in under 12-months with the help of many people we have raised over £99,000.

If you would like to help us to give other children a better chance of fighting this devastating illness then please donate to our Christmas Appeal 2016 and help us to raise £100,000 in Lucas's name.

Brain tumours are responsible for more cancer deaths in children and young people than any other type of tumour. Despite this brain tumour research receives just 0.5% of all cancer research funding.

Lucas was a very precious and much loved boy. He had never been ill or had a day off school before May 2015 when he was suddenly taken poorly. The following day he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. Despite fighting with great courage and bravery, Lucas died just 11 weeks later, 4-weeks before his 7th birthday.

Throughout his illness Lucas showed a humbling bravery. He went to school for as long as he could. His teacher, described Lucas as “a shining example to us all.'

Lucas' Legacy is working with the UK's leading Scientists at The Institute for Cancer Research - the UK’s top academic research centre to undertake research with the aim of leading to improved survival in children with this illness in the future.

16,000 people are diagnosed with a brain tumour every year in the UK and more children, and adults under 40, die from this type of cancer than any other. The lack of investment in research means there are few treatments available.
